The Kings

Kings of Ewing is a five-piece band from Evanston, Illinois. We live on the same block on Ewing Ave: hence the name! We started in 2023 to play our own block party and liked it so much we never stopped.

By day, we hold down regular jobs. By night we play the music we love: rock, pop, folk, blues, and soul from the ’60s to today, from Beatles classics and Allman Brothers jams to Tom Petty, Chappell Roan, and everything in between. All five of us pull double duty — four sing lead, and between us we cover horn, keys, guitar, bass, and drums. We know how to read a room, keep the dance floor moving, and get the crowd singing along.

We play weddings, block parties, fundraisers, bars, and backyard gatherings throughout North Chicagoland. We’re flexible on production too — we can bring our own PA and mixing board and run our own sound if needed, or plug into whatever a venue has. Either way works for us.

Frequently Asked

How long do you play?
Typical events are 2–3 hours of live music, split into a few sets with short breaks. We’re flexible — tell us what you have in mind and we’ll work it out.
Do you bring your own sound system?
Yes. We can bring our own PA and mixing board and run our own sound, or plug into whatever the venue provides. Either way works for us.
Indoor or outdoor — do you do both?
Both. We’ve played backyards, brewery patios, fundraiser tents, club rooms, and street block parties. For outdoor events, we just ask for a rain plan or covered backup space.
How much space do you need?
A 12′×8′ area is comfortable for the full five-piece. We’ve squeezed into smaller spots and spread out across bigger stages too. Stage diagram here.
How far do you travel?
We’re based in Evanston and play throughout North Chicagoland — Evanston, Wilmette, Lincolnwood, Skokie, Glenview, Northbrook, and into Chicago. Reach out about events further afield; we’ll let you know.
Can we request specific songs?
Usually yes. Send us your must-plays with your booking inquiry and we’ll let you know what we can do. For weddings, we’re happy to learn a first-dance song or other special request.
How much setup and breakdown time do you need?
We arrive about 90 minutes before showtime for load-in and soundcheck, and need around 45 minutes to break down at the end.
What kinds of events do you play?
Weddings, block parties, fundraisers, backyard gatherings, breweries, bars, and corporate events. If it has a dance floor or could have one, we’re probably a fit.
